A man is accused of killing his British wife over weight loss issues, with his family revealing that he had kept his marriage and child a secret. Allegedly, Jonathan Renteria, 25, strangled lawyer June Bunyan, 37, during an argument in Los Angeles where June threatened to leave with their daughter. Renteria is accused of fatally choking June. He then allegedly dismembered her body and has been charged with murder. According to prosecutors, Renteria told police that they argued about June’s weight post-pregnancy.

Records show that Renteria and June were married for about a year, and their daughter was born in July. Shockingly, Renteria’s father Julio, 44, mentioned that he was unaware of his son’s marriage until the arrest. He expressed sympathy for June’s family, stating that they had never met her and were shocked by the revelations.

Despite reports of a confession, Renteria has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in November. June, originally from Scotland, met Renteria online after moving to the US for a legal career. She was last seen alive on September 4. Detectives are investigating the case and have searched the couple’s property for evidence after Renteria was found injured in Ventura County.

A fundraiser has been launched to bring June’s remains back to the UK, raising over £12,600 out of a £15,000 goal. June’s family, devastated by her tragic death, described her as a compassionate individual. They mourned her loss and emphasized the profound impact of her untimely death on their lives.
