A new option has emerged for households seeking TV access without monthly fees. Freely, which debuted in 2024, originally offered live channels through specific new TVs but has expanded to include brands like Hisense, Toshiba, and Sharp. Recently, Manhattan introduced the Aero 4K set-top box, enabling any existing TV to access over 60 live channels and on-demand content for free, without a costly subscription.
The Aero 4K device features voice search, viewing recommendations, a comprehensive TV guide, and the ability to pause live shows. Users can also access popular streaming services like Disney+ and Netflix. Priced at £69.99, the Aero 4K has quickly gained popularity.
Currys became the first UK retailer to offer the Aero 4K, and it promptly sold out. It will be restocked soon, with interested buyers able to sign up for alerts on the Currys website. Other retailers such as Amazon and John Lewis are expected to start selling the device as well.
Once back in stock, the Aero 4K will compete with devices like Virgin’s Stream box and Sky Stream, eliminating the need for traditional aerial or dish setups by delivering content over the internet. Transitioning to streaming offers easier installation and more frequent updates without requiring technician visits.
With Freely reporting over a million users, the trend towards streaming over traditional TV methods is evident, signaling a shift in how viewers consume content.
