Tourists in the Alanya region of Antalya, Turkey, were compelled to evacuate their accommodations due to the wildfires. Startling videos shared on social media depicted intense flames engulfing forested areas mere meters away from a restaurant, potentially threatening a holiday resort, leaving onlookers in shock.
The wildfire originated in the Kundu area near Antalya on Saturday evening, where numerous tourist-frequented hotels are situated. The fire was exacerbated by strong winds, causing it to spread into the neighboring regions of Mugla and Aydin, as confirmed by local firefighters. An extensive emergency operation was promptly launched to try and contain the inferno.
To address the alarming wildfires, a team of over 800 firefighters, along with 20 helicopters and 14 additional aircraft, were deployed to the affected areas.
