In the Bhilwara district of Rajasthan, India, a newborn baby was found abandoned with a stone placed in his mouth and his lips sealed with adhesive to suppress any cries. The helpless infant, estimated to be between 15 and 20 days old, was discovered among rocks and debris. Fortunately, a vigilant cattle herder removed the obstructions from the baby’s mouth, allowing him to cry and securing immediate medical attention at the Bijolia Government Hospital.
Authorities suspect that the cruel act of sealing the baby’s mouth was an attempt to prevent the child from drawing attention by making noise. The police are currently investigating nearby hospitals’ delivery records to identify potential mothers who recently gave birth. Efforts are also underway to locate the baby’s parents with the help of local residents. The child is currently receiving medical care under Rajasthan police supervision.
This incident highlights a broader issue in India concerning cases of infant abandonment. Recently, a five-month-old girl was found deserted in Chandigarh, while in Jharkhand, a baby was rescued from a drain with fractured hands on the same day.
