A nursery worker in Hounslow, west London, named Roksana Lecka, faced arrest by the police for assaulting 21 babies, with one incident involving her kicking a baby in the face. Lecka admitted to seven counts of cruelty to children and was found guilty of 14 additional counts by a jury at Kingston Crown Court. She has now been sentenced to eight years in prison at the same court.

Police body camera footage captured the moment of Lecka’s arrest at her home after CCTV footage revealed her mistreatment of infants. In the footage, Lecka appeared smiling as officers confronted her about the allegations of baby abuse. Despite the serious accusations, she callously acknowledged being aware of the situation.

During police questioning, Lecka remained uncooperative, responding with “no comment” to all inquiries and showing no remorse when confronted with evidence of the harm she caused to the children. Concerns were raised by parents and colleagues after noticing bruises and scratches on the babies, leading to an investigation by the Metropolitan Police. CCTV footage from the nurseries revealed Lecka pinching and scratching the children under their clothing.

The investigation uncovered that Lecka had abused children at two nurseries between October 2023 and June 2024, with incidents reported at Little Munchkins in Hounslow and the now-closed Montessori Riverside Nursery in Twickenham. Detective Sergeant Geoff Boye described the footage showing Lecka inflicting multiple assaults on the children, including kicking a boy in the face and stepping on his shoulder.

Lecka pleaded guilty to seven counts of child cruelty, with a jury convicting her of 14 additional counts. She attributed her actions to cannabis use, claiming it affected her memory. Additionally, she admitted to being addicted to vaping, which she engaged in during work hours to manage agitation.

Victim impact statements from the parents of the 21 affected babies were heard during Lecka’s sentencing hearing at Kingston Crown Court. Parents expressed profound distress over the vulnerability of their children and condemned Lecka’s actions as heinous and targeting defenseless infants. The court also viewed disturbing footage showing Lecka’s abusive behavior towards the children, further highlighting the severity of her crimes.
