The BBC has announced a new airing date for a documentary film focusing on the personal life of the late rock icon, Ozzy Osbourne, after it was unexpectedly removed from TV schedules recently.
Titled “Sharon & Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home,” the film is set to premiere on Thursday, October 2, at 9 pm on BBC One. Following its broadcast, viewers can watch it on BBC iPlayer. Chronicling the final phase of the Black Sabbath frontman’s life post his passing at 76 on July 22, the documentary captures the aftermath of his last concert in Birmingham.
Despite battling health issues such as Parkinson’s Disease and a spinal injury that led to multiple surgeries, Ozzy succumbed to a heart attack, with coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s also contributing to his demise. The film, spanning an hour, promises an inside look into the Osbourne family’s dynamics, featuring Ozzy’s wife of 43 years, Sharon, alongside their children Kelly and Jack.
Documenting a three-year period, the production follows Ozzy’s decision to return to their English countryside home in Buckinghamshire after residing in Los Angeles for 25 years. Determined to stage one final performance for his devoted fans before retirement, the documentary portrays Ozzy’s resilience and humor that has resonated with audiences for over five decades.
Originally envisioned as a series centered on Ozzy and Sharon’s relocation to the UK dubbed “Home To Roost,” the project transformed into a poignant one-hour film as Ozzy’s health deteriorated. Post his passing, the documentary evolved into a tribute to the rock legend’s legacy, emphasizing his roots in Birmingham and the unwavering support of his family.
