The annual Perseid meteor shower occurs as Earth passes through the debris trail left by Comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle. This celestial event reached its peak overnight, coinciding with a new moon that created perfect viewing conditions for stargazers, with minimal moonlight interference. Witness the spectacular shooting stars in the images below.

In the Negev Desert near Mitzpe Ramon, Israel, Perseid meteor streaks illuminated the sky at Mount Ramon in the early hours of Thursday. Meanwhile, at Visnjan Observatory in Croatia, observers enjoyed the sight of a meteor streaking across the evening sky on Wednesday.

In North Macedonia near Kratovo, a meteor streaked across the night sky above the Stone Dolls of Kuklica in the early hours of Thursday. In Serbia, people gathered at the Monument to the Unknown Hero on Mount Avala near Belgrade to watch the mesmerizing display of the Perseid meteor shower.

In southern Bosnia-Herzegovina near Stolac, a meteor streaked above the megalithic stone walls of the ancient Illyrian city of Daorson. Additionally, from Jacobsdorf, Germany, spectators witnessed a meteor with a green tail and the streaks of two satellites during the Perseid meteor shower on Wednesday.
