Police are actively pursuing new leads and conducting a search at a property linked to the grandparents of missing 15-year-old Rebecca Reusch, raising hopes for a significant breakthrough in the case. The focus of the investigation is on Rebecca’s brother-in-law, who has been a key suspect since her disappearance in 2019, with detectives alleging that he may have been involved in her possible death on February 18 that year.

Despite extensive efforts, authorities have not located Rebecca’s body since she went missing. The brother-in-law, now 33, was previously arrested twice in March 2019 but was later released due to insufficient evidence.

A statement from the public prosecutor’s office suggested that the brother-in-law may have killed Rebecca on the morning of February 18, 2019, and temporarily concealed her body and belongings at his grandparents’ property in Tauche, Germany. Rebecca was reported missing after spending the night at her sister and brother-in-law’s residence in the Berlin suburb of Britz, where she failed to show up at school the next day.

Investigators observed the brother-in-law’s car on the A12 motorway heading towards Frankfurt on the day Rebecca vanished. Currently, law enforcement is conducting a thorough search of the property in Brandenburg, approximately 54 miles southwest of Berlin. The search involves the use of drones, ground-penetrating radar, an excavator, and a cadaver dog, with interviews of nearby residents also being conducted.

Approximately 115 police officers are involved in the search operation, as reported by German outlet Die Zeit, with plans for further investigations at the site in the coming days. Prosecutors have advised against interfering with the investigation following unauthorized online inquiries conducted by individuals.
