New allegations against Prince Andrew are causing significant concern and should be thoroughly investigated, according to a source from Buckingham Palace.
The Metropolitan Police has confirmed an active investigation into claims that Prince Andrew shared personal information of his accuser, Virginia Giuffre, with his bodyguard for a potential smear campaign.
These developments coincide with the release of Ms. Giuffre’s posthumous memoir, where she mentions attempts by Prince Andrew’s team to engage online trolls to harass her. The Prince has consistently denied any sexual involvement with Ms. Giuffre.
Recently, Prince Andrew stepped down from his Duke of York title amidst heightened scrutiny of his association with Epstein and the allegations made by Ms. Giuffre.
A Palace source emphasized the seriousness of the new allegations and the broader issues they raise, highlighting the need for a proper examination of the situation.
There is mounting pressure on the Royal Family to support a parliamentary move to strip Prince Andrew of his titles officially.
Regarding the potential legislative action, the Prime Minister’s official spokesperson noted that the decision lies with the palace initially and that ministers support the King’s judgment on Andrew’s titles.
Members of Parliament, including Rachael Maskell from York Central Labour, are urging swift action to revoke Andrew’s titles, with SNP’s leader at Westminster, Stephen Flynn, criticizing the government’s inaction and expressing public outrage.
On Friday, Buckingham Palace confirmed Prince Andrew’s decision to relinquish his Duke of York title following discussions within the Royal Family. In a statement, he mentioned that ongoing accusations were diverting attention from the monarchy’s work, leading to his voluntary withdrawal from public duties.
Prince Andrew, with the King’s approval, announced he would no longer use his title or associated honors, reiterating his denial of the accusations against him.
