Samsung has ceased support for three older Galaxy smartphone models, meaning they will no longer receive essential software updates. The Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, and Galaxy S21 Ultra have been removed from Samsung’s list of supported devices for security patches. While manufacturers typically provide security updates even after main Android version updates end, these models are no longer listed, indicating they won’t receive further system updates. Owners of these phones, released in 2021, are advised to consider upgrading for enhanced security.
Initially promising four years of Android updates and five years of security updates, Samsung’s commitment to the S21 series has now ended in 2026. Newer models like the Galaxy S25 offer extended support with seven years of Android and security updates, ensuring a longer device lifespan. However, the Galaxy S21 FE continues to receive quarterly security updates for at least another year.
For those contemplating an upgrade, Samsung is anticipated to unveil the Galaxy S26 series soon, possibly by February 25. Expectations include enhancements like a faster processor, improved camera quality, enhanced design, and better battery performance. Stay tuned for updates on the latest Samsung news, including the Galaxy S26 launch.
