In a recent revelation, an easyJet flight attendant shared insights into the clandestine communication methods used by cabin crew during flights. The unidentified crew member from the budget airline disclosed these secrets on their social media platform.

Due to the vast number of passengers and the elongated structure of the aircraft, verbal communication among cabin crew is not always feasible. Consequently, they have devised a non-verbal “secret language” based on gestures to interact discreetly.

This unique language involves symbolic gestures rather than spoken words. For instance, to request specific food items, crew members use gestures like mimicking a crocodile for a croque monsieur, flapping an arm like a chicken wing for a chicken wrap, and demonstrating a folding motion for a calzone.

The innovative communication approach drew admiration from social media users, with comments describing it as “absolutely iconic” and recognizing it as an internal sign language used by the crew. Observant passengers have also shared their experiences of witnessing these gestures during flights and trying to decipher their meanings.

The engagement with the post showcased passengers’ intrigue and amusement at the covert communication methods employed by cabin crew, adding an element of mystery and fascination to the flying experience.
