Joe Exotic, known from the popular “Tiger King” documentary, recently paid tribute to his colleague Ryan Easley, who tragically lost his life after a tiger attack at Growler Pines Tiger Preserve in Oklahoma. The incident, where Easley was bitten by the tiger and succumbed to his injuries, has led to the tiger being isolated pending an investigation.

Expressing his condolences, Joe Exotic emphasized that risks are inherent in their line of work and discouraged imposing stricter regulations on preserves. He remembered Easley fondly, stating that everyone takes risks and accidents can happen in any activity.

Despite ongoing criticism from organizations like PETA regarding the treatment of animals at the preserve, Joe Exotic defended the operation and highlighted Easley’s passion for working with tigers, even though he acknowledged the risks involved.

PETA and other animal welfare groups have condemned Easley’s facility as a “roadside zoo” and criticized the handling of the tigers. They have called for a shift away from such practices and advocated for the relocation of the animals to sanctuaries where they can live peacefully.

Following Easley’s tragic death, tours and interactions at the preserve have been halted until further notice. The incident has sparked debate on the safety and ethical considerations of keeping and showcasing large cats in private facilities.
