Thousands have assembled in anticipation of a public commemoration for Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist. Donald Trump is set to lead the homage to the right-wing podcaster, who tragically lost his life at a debate event in Utah. Notable figures from Trump’s administration, including Vice President JD Vance, are scheduled to join the memorial at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, the headquarters of Kirk’s organization, Turning Point USA.

Stringent security measures are in place for the event, with a significant presence of the US Secret Service on-site. Despite the arrest of an individual posing as a police officer at the stadium, it was later clarified that the individual was conducting a security check before the service.

State Farm Stadium, which can accommodate 63,000 people and is home to the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals, prominently displayed a large poster honoring Charlie Kirk ahead of the memorial. Attendees have been advised by Turning Point USA to adhere to a patriotic dress code, encouraging them to dress in their ‘sunday best’ attire, preferably in red, white, and blue.

Doors will open at 8 am local time (4 pm UK time), and seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Officials anticipate around 100,000 individuals gathering in and around the stadium for the memorial, marking a week since Kirk’s passing. In preparation for a full house, an additional venue with a capacity of nearly 20,000 is on standby to accommodate extra attendees.

Regarding an incident involving an armed individual at the memorial service, Turning Point USA clarified that Joshua Runkles, who was apprehended for posing as a police officer, was conducting a security sweep for a “known guest” and did not pose a threat. The organization stressed that all precautions are being taken to ensure the safety of all attendees.

The public service for Charlie Kirk will take place at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, later today, with overflow arrangements in place at the Desert Diamond Arena nearby. Kirk’s tragic demise occurred when he was shot during a debate event at Utah Valley University last week.
