Members of the USA Ryder Cup team are anticipating the potential impact of President Donald Trump’s attendance at the upcoming tournament. Keegan Bradley, who leads Team USA, is poised to compete against Team Europe, guided by Luke Donald, at Bethpage Black in New York.
Among the American team, Bryson DeChambeau and Sam Burns have deliberated on the prospect of Trump’s presence during the tournament’s opening day on Friday. It is expected that Trump will be in attendance at Bethpage Black for the inaugural day of the competition.
Ahead of the event, both captains are set to reveal their pairings for the foursomes on Thursday evening, with the matches commencing on Friday morning. DeChambeau, actively participating in the LIV Golf tour since 2023, emphasized the significant impact of the President’s attendance on him and his teammates.
Expressing his thoughts to reporters, DeChambeau stated, “I hope it will inspire us to victory. I think it will be a great force for us to get a lot of people on our side. It’s going to be an electric environment.” Similarly, Burns expressed enthusiasm about competing in the Ryder Cup before President Trump, highlighting the honor of having the President support their team.
Team Europe aims to defend the trophy they secured in Rome in 2023, following a resounding victory over Team USA with a score of 16.5-11.5. The last faceoff between Team Europe and Team USA on American soil in 2021 resulted in a decisive win for the Europeans at Whistling Straits. However, the last European triumph in the Ryder Cup on U.S. territory dates back to the memorable Miracle at Medinah in 2012.
