UK Samsung TV users are set to receive a significant complimentary upgrade providing an array of extra content to enjoy. UKTV has officially announced that its popular free-to-air linear channels will soon be accessible on Samsung screens, allowing UK viewers to watch without the need for additional devices for the first time.

The channels will be streamed over the internet, enabling viewers to simply plug in and play without the requirement of a traditional aerial setup. As part of the agreement, Samsung will introduce a dedicated section on its home screen to showcase content from the U streaming service, making it easier for users to discover shows without navigating through menus.

In the upcoming months, channels like U&DRAMA, U&Dave, U&YESTERDAY, U&W, and U&eden will also be accessible through a direct link from Samsung’s Universal Guide to the U app.

Samsung anticipates that the rollout will encompass millions of its televisions, with the channels prominently featured in the platform’s ‘Live’ tab and Universal Guide, ensuring that UKTV’s live and on-demand content is easily accessible to viewers relying on internet-based TV services.

Jonathan Newman, Commercial General Manager at UKTV and BBC Studios UK and Ireland, expressed that this agreement further strengthens the existing partnership between UKTV and Samsung, enhancing the accessibility of the U app to Samsung customers.

Dan Harvie, Vice President of Home Entertainment and Appliances at Samsung UK and Ireland, emphasized the essential role of UKTV in enhancing the entertainment options on Samsung TVs. He highlighted the collaboration’s aim to provide customers with a diverse range of broadcast content for an enriched viewing experience.

While the official launch date has not been disclosed, the enhanced features are expected to roll out on Samsung TVs in the coming weeks, offering users an improved entertainment experience.
