The resurgence of interest in vintage iPods has caught the attention of tech enthusiasts. With a growing number of Apple fans seeking these iconic music players, there has been a significant surge in searches for old iPod models on online auction platforms like eBay.

According to eBay, searches for iPods increased by over 20% last year, with a particularly high demand for the iPod Classic, showing a 25% year-over-year rise. The term “iPod” was searched more than 1,200 times per hour globally on eBay in 2025, indicating a strong interest in these devices.

eBay data reveals that several iPod models experienced a substantial increase in average sales prices in 2025 compared to 2023. The iPod Nano 3rd generation saw a surge of over 60%, followed by the iPod 3rd generation with over 50%, the iPod Nano 4th generation with over 45%, and the iPod Classic 6th generation with over 40%.

If you happen to own any of these sought-after iPod models gathering dust, it might be worthwhile to consider selling them, as some listings on eBay show prices exceeding £100. Beyond iPods, there is a growing trend in the resurgence of retro technology, including turntables, cassette players, and walkman-style devices, all experiencing a revival in popularity.

The iPod, introduced by Apple in October 2001, revolutionized the music industry with its promise of “1,000 songs in your pocket.” It integrated seamlessly with Apple’s iTunes software, revolutionizing music consumption. While early models featured a mechanical scroll wheel and hard drives, later iterations like the Nano became more compact and lightweight.

The iPod played a pivotal role in Apple’s success and the shift towards digital music distribution. Despite being discontinued in 2022 as smartphones took over, the iPod’s legacy endures as a cultural icon in the music world.
