Virgin Media is set to introduce a major upgrade to its TV platform, enhancing the search experience for users. The telecoms company announced the changes in a blog post, highlighting a more visual search function.
Currently, users can search for content in a standard list view on Virgin Media. However, the upcoming update will feature vivid images instead of text listings, making the search process more engaging.
“We’re implementing helpful improvements to the search functionality on our Stream box and Virgin TV 360,” confirmed Virgin Media.
The update will replace text-based search results with image results, streamlining the process of finding desired content quickly and easily. Whether users type their search queries or utilize the voice search feature, they will now see visual tiles for relevant results.
The rollout of this update will occur automatically on devices such as the 360 and Stream boxes. Virgin assured users that no additional steps are required on their end for the update to take effect.
This enhancement aims to help users discover content more efficiently, reducing the time spent browsing through channels. Virgin’s search function allows users to search for specific shows, movies, genres, and actors.
To initiate a search, users can simply press the magnifying glass button on the remote control and start typing. Smart Search typically requires only a few letters to display relevant results. Alternatively, users can hold down the microphone button on the remote and speak the name of the show they are looking for.
Virgin Media recommends trying out various search queries with the remote, such as looking for shows and movies related to “John Wick,” exploring “feel-good movies,” discovering “reality TV,” or finding “live sports tonight.”
By enhancing the search experience with visual results, Virgin Media aims to provide a more user-friendly and efficient way for customers to navigate and discover content on its TV platform.
