Vodafone Introduces Scam Call Protection Service to Combat Phone Scams
The prevalence of unwanted phone calls, especially those attempting to extract personal information and credit card details, is a concerning issue for smartphone users. Reports indicate that on average, consumers in the UK receive around eight of these suspicious calls every month.
To address this growing problem and enhance customer safety, Vodafone has unveiled a new service called Scam Call Protection. This innovative feature leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to detect and flag potentially fraudulent, spam, scam, and nuisance calls.
Operating discreetly in the background, the Scam Call Protection service scrutinizes all incoming calls to users’ phones. If any call raises suspicion, customers will promptly receive an on-screen notification alerting them to the potential scam call.
Rob Winterschladen, Consumer Director at Vodafone, emphasized the importance of staying vigilant against evolving scam tactics. He highlighted that the Scam Call Protection service, integrated into the Vodafone Secure Net Mobile platform, offers an additional layer of security. By continuously monitoring calls and identifying suspected scam calls, it aims to empower users with enhanced digital security, knowledge, and control.
Vodafone’s Secure Net Mobile platform, which now includes the Scam Call Protection service, already provides advanced parental controls, round-the-clock ID monitoring to combat identity theft, and real-time virus and malware protection.
For those interested in trying out the Scam Call Protection service, Vodafone offers a complimentary three-month trial period. Subsequently, users can subscribe to the service for £2 per month.
By introducing this proactive measure, Vodafone reinforces its commitment to safeguarding customers against phone scams and enhancing their digital experience.
