Jillian Shriner, the wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, has been accepted into a two-year mental health diversion program following an incident where she allegedly fired at police during a manhunt in her Los Angeles neighborhood. The 52-year-old was charged in April after officers were pursuing three suspects who had fled a freeway crash in Eagle Rock. During the search, Shriner reportedly discharged a firearm, causing commotion in the residential area.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office has confirmed the agreement, stating that if Jillian successfully fulfills the program’s requirements, the court will dismiss the case. Authorities reported that police encountered Jillian, also known as Jillian Lauren, outside her residence holding a handgun. Despite multiple commands to drop the weapon, she fired shots before being shot in the shoulder by an LAPD officer. Jillian received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries, and no officers were harmed in the incident.

Following the confrontation, Jillian was handcuffed, taken into custody, and later released on $1 million bail after being booked on attempted murder charges. A 9-millimeter handgun was recovered from the Shriner household, and a family babysitter who was detained during the incident was released shortly after. Scott Shriner, her husband, was spotted walking their dogs near their home the next day, expressing optimism about seeing her at Coachella and confirming her well-being.

The couple, married since 2005 with two adopted children, has been ordered by LA County Superior Court Judge Susan De Witt to comply with the diversion program’s conditions. These requirements include abstaining from drugs and alcohol, attending therapy sessions weekly, undergoing random testing, participating in three Alcoholics Anonymous meetings per week, and refraining from possessing firearms or knives. Any violations could result in termination of the program and her return to court. Jillian is expected to provide a progress report on January 9.

The incident unfolded as police were chasing three suspects who escaped a multi-car collision on the freeway. Witnesses observed one suspect, injured and in his underwear, attempting to hide in a swimming pool near the Shriner residence before officers arrived.

Aside from her marriage to Scott Shriner, Jillian Shriner is a renowned nonfiction author. Weezer, established in 1992 and recognized for hits like “Say It Ain’t So,” consists of Rivers Cuomo, Patrick Wilson, Brian Bell, and Scott Shriner. The band has a sold-out show scheduled in London this year.
