BBC Radio 2 host Zoe Ball recently shared details of a candid conversation she had with her son, who is facing similar challenges to her own. While Zoe’s son Woody is following in the footsteps of his father, Norman Cook (also known as Fatboy Slim), as a DJ, Zoe has observed that he struggles with managing his responsibilities as he matures.
In a recent episode of her podcast “Dig It” with broadcaster Jo Whiley, Zoe discussed how she and Whiley taught their children about the importance of money. Zoe disclosed that both her children have had jobs, but Woody has had difficulty with finances due to being disorganized.
Acknowledging her son’s struggles, Zoe admitted to intervening by paying his parking fines in the past, which inadvertently hindered his ability to learn financial responsibility. However, she mentioned that Woody, now 25, has shown improvement in budgeting and managing his money, especially during periods of fluctuating DJ work opportunities.
Zoe and Norman, who got married in 1999 after meeting in Ibiza in 1997, have two children, Woody and Nelly. Zoe, a prominent figure on BBC radio, notably received her own Radio 2 show in 2019. Following a break from hosting to spend time with her family after her mother’s passing, she returned to BBC Radio 2 this year to host the Saturday afternoon slot.
