Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s connections with Jeffrey Epstein, their daughters Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie have been inadvertently drawn into the fray.
Newly revealed emails suggest that Epstein not only financially supported Sarah but also that she allegedly took her children to visit him post his release from prison in 2009. However, Andrew vehemently denies all allegations against him.
The emails, reportedly sent by Epstein to his lawyer in 2011, indicate that Sarah visited Epstein in New York with her daughters shortly after his release. Sarah’s spokesperson denies any recollection of such a visit by her or her daughters.
While Sarah had previously acknowledged receiving money from Epstein, the recent emails indicate that she sought a substantial loan from him, ranging from $50,000 to $100,000, for various expenses and even expressed a desire to visit his private island.
Following the surfacing of these emails, several charities cut ties with Sarah, especially after an email where she praised Epstein as a supportive friend despite publicly stating she would sever connections with him.
Sarah’s spokesperson explained that her flattering email to Epstein was a result of fear instilled by his threatening phone call, likened to a “Hannibal Lecter-style” intimidation, where he vowed to ruin her and her family, including her daughters.
In response to the ongoing accusations and distractions, Prince Andrew announced his decision to relinquish the use of his royal titles and honours to focus on his family and country’s welfare. This move also means that Sarah will no longer hold the title of Duchess of York.
The development signifies a significant change in their public status and underscores the impact of the Epstein controversy on the royal family.
