A family was shocked to discover that a woman’s newborn baby was actually a doll. Kira Cousins of Airdrie, Scotland, is accused of using a fake pregnancy bump, pretending to give birth, and sharing pictures of a Reborn baby doll named Bonnie-Leigh Joyce. The 22-year-old announced the fake birth on social media, claiming the doll weighed 5lbs 4oz.
She posted images of baby scans, a gender reveal party, and a video of the doll kicking her belly. She also shared pictures of baby clothes and items purchased for the fake baby, including an expensive pram and car seat. Kira even fabricated details about hospital appointments and health issues, alleging that the doll had a heart defect.
After the doll was discovered by her mother, Kira allegedly informed the man she claimed was the baby’s father that the baby had died. When contacted for a response, Kira declined to comment. A friend of the family revealed suspicions about the fake pregnancy, describing Kira as a chronic liar.
Reborn dolls, like the one Kira used, can be bought for varying prices. The friend of Kira’s family noted that she had doubts about the authenticity of the pregnancy from the beginning. She mentioned observing inconsistencies with Kira’s supposed baby bump and realizing it was not real.
The friend admitted being hesitant to speak out earlier due to fear of backlash. She expressed disbelief at the situation and emphasized Kira’s history of deceit.
