Apple has commenced its annual WWDC Developers Conference at its futuristic headquarters in Cupertino, unveiling significant software updates. iOS 27 is confirmed to launch this fall, succeeding iOS 26 as Apple’s latest operating system.
The new iOS version will introduce enhancements such as customizable Liquid Glass aesthetics, improved file search capabilities, and an upgraded Siri with advanced functionalities like email composition, event creation, and ticket booking for concerts.
Apple assures that older iPhone models will experience improved responsiveness, courtesy of a feature known as CPU Scheduler. Overall, device performance is expected to be faster, with iPhone and iPad apps launching up to 30% quicker, photos loading up to 70% faster post-capture, and AirDrop transfers being up to 80% speedier.
For parents managing children’s device usage, Apple is rolling out a set of user-friendly features for content control, communication oversight, and access management to apps. Noteworthy additions like “Ask to Browse,” “Time Allowances,” and enhanced Screen Time settings aim to alleviate parental concerns.
Sumbul Desai, M.D., Apple’s vice president of Health and Fitness, emphasized the company’s commitment to empowering users while prioritizing their safety through technology innovations. The updated features aim to help families establish age-appropriate protections and foster healthy digital habits.
Although the complete list of changes is pending, Apple has confirmed that all existing iOS 26 devices will be eligible for the iOS 27 update. The compatible device roster includes a range of iPhone models from iPhone 11 to iPhone SE (3rd generation).
