CBC has secured a significant position in Canadian curling through a freshly inked five-year broadcasting deal that will expand coverage of the Grand Slam of Curling playoffs and all Rock League matches on its platforms. The agreement, disclosed on Thursday with The Curling Group, is set to deliver over 300 hours of combined television content on CBC and Sportsnet during the 2026-27 season.
A notable development for CBC is its involvement with Rock League. The professional league, which debuted in April, is slated to come back to CBC in January 2027, showcasing every game on CBC television and CBC Gem. Additionally, selected games will be broadcasted on Radio-Canada’s ICI TOU.TV and Sportsnet on Thursdays and Fridays.
Featuring six mixed-gender franchises with curlers from various countries, the second season of Rock League will host events on specific weekends in January and April, with games scheduled from Thursday to Sunday.
In terms of the Grand Slam of Curling, CBC will play a more prominent role. Sportsnet will remain the primary broadcaster for all five Grand Slam events starting in October, airing three draws daily from Tuesday to Friday. CBC and CBC Gem will team up with Sportsnet+ to cover Saturday’s playoffs, while Sportsnet will handle the championship finals on Sundays, with CBC also showcasing select finals throughout the season. Morning round-robin draws and tiebreakers from Tuesday to Saturday will continue to be streamed on Rock Channel.
The new agreement builds on CBC’s extensive curling legacy, enhancing its presence at major Canadian curling events. Chris Wilson, CBC’s executive director of sports and Olympics, expressed excitement about sharing another season of Rock League with audiences nationwide.
