Toronto Blue Jays’ star player, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., has been cleared to return to action after being on the injured list for seven days. He is set to play in the upcoming game against the New York Yankees. Guerrero sustained an injury during a collision with George Lombard Jr., a Yankees’ rookie shortstop, in a recent game in Toronto, leading to his temporary absence.
The incident occurred in the sixth inning when Guerrero slid into third base and was hit by Lombard’s knee and thigh. Despite losing his helmet in the collision, Guerrero managed to score before leaving the game. Following his recovery, Guerrero successfully completed his concussion tests and participated in a minor league rehabilitation game for single-A Dunedin, where he showcased his fitness by hitting a double.
Guerrero’s return to the lineup comes after the Blue Jays’ defeat to the Yankees in the previous game. He will be batting second in the order. In a corresponding roster move, Davis Schneider has been sent down to triple-A Buffalo. Guerrero, who boasts a batting average of .263 with seven home runs and 46 RBIs, was in good form before his injury, hitting .310 in his last seven games.
