“SeatGeek Canada Hit with $22,500 in Fines”

Date:

SeatGeek Canada is under scrutiny by the Ontario government as it faces two fresh fines for allegedly violating a recent law that limits the resale of event tickets at their original price. According to the province’s consumer protection website, the latest penalties imposed on the ticket resale platform amount to a total of $22,500.

One of the fines, totaling $15,000, was issued for purportedly listing a ticket for sale or facilitating its resale above the mandated price limit. The second fine, amounting to $7,500, was imposed for allegedly not disclosing the complete ticket price when a ticket was purchased directly from the primary seller.

Neither the province nor SeatGeek Canada has provided immediate responses regarding the specific events that led to these fines or whether the company intends to challenge the penalties. This incident follows a previous fine of $25,000 issued to the company in August for similar violations.
