Visitors attending a festive event in a historic city have expressed their dissatisfaction on social media due to the lack of holiday cheer, high prices, and overcrowding. One visitor went as far as calling it the most disappointing Christmas market they had ever visited.

The Bath Christmas Market, currently ongoing in the heart of the historic city until December 14, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Described on the official website as a cozy winter experience with twinkling chalets, unique gifts, and delicious food and drinks, it aims to bring the Christmas spirit to life in the city center.

Recently named the UK’s best Christmas Market by readers of Which?, the city received praise for its food and drink offerings, cultural attractions, and the festive ambiance created by over 200 chalets at the market. The event also showcases local artisan stalls from Bristol and the South West of England, providing a unique shopping experience.

Despite positive reviews, some TikTokers have shared negative experiences at the market. Criticisms included the lack of Christmas ambiance, high prices, and overcrowding, with one visitor describing it as a depressing Christmas market without the traditional festive elements.

However, not all feedback has been negative, with some visitors sharing positive experiences of enjoying the market’s offerings. One visitor mentioned a pleasant day of exploring stalls, indulging in street food, and soaking in the festive atmosphere while disregarding the negative reviews circulating on TikTok.

In response to the criticisms, Councillor Manda Rigby emphasized the success and positive impact of the market on the local community, highlighting its management, job creation, and support for local businesses. Rigby encouraged visitors to form their own opinions by experiencing the market firsthand.
