EasyJet has announced a new route from a UK airport to one of the top culinary destinations globally. Residents of Liverpool and surrounding areas will soon have the option to fly from Liverpool Airport to Naples, with ticket prices starting at just £40.99. This latest route adds to easyJet’s extensive network, now totaling 41 routes covering 17 countries in Europe and North Africa.
Naples is renowned as the birthplace of pizza, with the city credited for creating the modern version of this beloved dish in the 1600s. UNESCO recognizes the Neapolitan pizza-making tradition as an intangible cultural heritage. A 2019 YouGov survey involving 25,000 participants from 24 countries highlighted Italian cuisine’s global popularity, with Naples being home to numerous acclaimed pizzerias.
Popular establishments like L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele, established in 1870, and Sorbillo serve top-quality pizzas with minimalistic menus. Besides indulging in pizza, visitors can take a short 20-minute train ride to Pompeii for a captivating day trip. The city, preserved in time by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79, offers a unique insight into ancient daily life.
Pompeii features well-preserved ruins, including streets, villas, temples, and even graffiti, providing a glimpse into the past. With a pleasant climate year-round, Naples offers mild temperatures around 15°C even in winter and soaring temperatures in the summer months.
Flights from Liverpool to Naples will operate twice a week starting from August 3, with bookings available on easyJet.com and the mobile app. To support the new routes, easyJet plans to introduce another aircraft next summer, expanding its fleet to nine planes.
Kevin Doyle, easyJet’s UK country manager, emphasized the airline’s commitment to providing affordable travel options. Robin Tudor, head of PR & Communications at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, highlighted the appeal of easyJet’s new Naples route, encouraging travelers to explore the historical sites and culinary delights of the region.
With operations from 22 UK airports and over 630 routes connecting to 140 destinations globally, easyJet continues to expand its network, offering travelers more choices for their journeys.
