The last significant Fortnite update for the year 2025 is set to roll out soon across PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile platforms.
Following closely behind the release of update 39.10, Epic Games, the developer of Fortnite, is launching another extensive update in support of the 2025 Winterfest event. This special Fortnite celebration will run for the next few weeks and includes exclusive gifts for players, fresh skins in the item shop, and limited-time in-game weaponry.
However, the arrival of Fortnite update 39.11 also corresponds with a period of server downtime. Here’s all you need to know about the upcoming Fortnite update.
Scheduled for release on December 18, Fortnite update 39.11 will kick off the Winterfest event once the server downtime concludes.
The game will go offline entirely at 9am GMT in the UK, 1am PDT / 4am EDT in the US, and 10am CET in Europe. Matchmaking will be disabled 30 minutes before the downtime, cutting off new game access by around 8.30am GMT.
An Epic Games tweet announces, “Winterfest blows into the Golden Coast! Downtime for v39.11 begins at 4 AM ET with matchmaking ending shortly beforehand.”
As per the server status page, Fortnite is expected to remain offline for about 90 minutes.
Assuming no delays, Fortnite should be back online at 10.30am GMT in the UK, 2.30am PDT / 5.30am EDT in the US, and 11.30am CET in Europe.
The upcoming Fortnite update will introduce various pop culture collaborations into the game.
Update 39.11 will feature a BLEACH crossover, Spongebob and Patrick Sidekicks, the Snow Hatsune Miku skin, Santa Sabrina Carpenter, Baby Groot Sidekick, and Dr. Emmett Brown from Back to the Future, alongside returning Christmas skins like Mariah Carey.
Expect alterations to the Battle Royale map, with snow and frost covering the island. The Cabin will also reappear, offering presents for players to unwrap.
Epic is anticipated to unveil new festive items and weapons while bringing back classics from previous Winterfest events.
One of the exciting additions is the introduction of 5-player Battle Royale Squads.
According to Fortnite insiders like Shiina, the CouRage ICON Skin will hit the Item Shop as part of today’s update.
Harry Potter skins will be available in the Item Shop on Thursday (or early Friday for UK players).
Snow Miku and the SpongeBob collaboration will debut in Fortnite on Friday (Saturday in the UK), followed by Bleach skins on Saturday (Sunday in the UK).
The Santa Sabrina skin is set to join the Item Shop on Monday, December 22 (Tuesday, December 23 in the UK), followed by Dr. Emmett Brown and the Delorean on December 23 (or 24th in the UK).
