Sky customers in the UK are in for a treat as HBO Max has officially launched in the country. Subscribers with the Sky Ultimate TV package can now enjoy access to HBO Max for free, allowing them to stream popular titles like Game of Thrones, Friends, Dune, and more without the usual monthly fee of £4.99, resulting in savings of over £50. Sky confirmed that customers with Sky Stream, Sky Glass, or Sky Q with the appropriate package will have HBO Max Basic with Ads included in their subscription.
HBO Max, known for its extensive library of HBO dramas and Warner Bros. films, has now made its debut in the UK. The service offers a wide range of content, from beloved classics like The Wire to new Max Originals such as The Pitt.
To start streaming HBO Max, customers on eligible Sky packages simply need to launch the HBO Max app from the homepage and follow the on-screen instructions to activate it. The service provides on-demand access to all its content once set up.
For non-Sky Ultimate TV customers interested in accessing HBO Max, they can switch to the plan starting at £22 per month (rising to £24 from April 1st). The package includes over 130 Sky channels, along with Netflix, Disney+, and the upcoming Hayu service later this year.
Sophia Ahmad, Sky’s Chief Consumer Officer, highlighted the significance of this new offering, stating that the integration of Sky, Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, and Hayu in a single subscription marks a new era for Sky and NOW. Additionally, NOW Entertainment customers will also receive HBO Max as part of their subscription, integrated into the NOW app.
For those who are not Sky subscribers, they have the option to directly sign up for HBO Max on the website, with Standard with Ads plans available starting at £5.99.
