A convicted murderer, Dahbia Benkired, received a historic whole-life sentence in France for the brutal killing of Lola Daviet. Benkired admitted to raping and torturing Lola before ending her life and leaving her body in a suitcase at the apartment building where the victim resided with her family. The case, which shocked France, resulted in Benkired being the first woman in French history to face a whole-life sentence.

During the trial, Lola’s mother, Delphine, recounted the last moments she shared with her daughter before the tragic incident. Benkired encountered Lola outside her residence in Paris, where she approached the young girl under false pretenses. Benkired coerced Lola to assist her with carrying suitcases into a building, leading to a harrowing attack where Lola was sexually assaulted, tortured, and eventually suffocated.

In a disturbing confession to the court, Benkired admitted to seeking revenge on Lola, describing her actions as impulsive. The murderer rationalized her heinous acts by claiming that since she had already violated Lola, she saw no reason not to end her life.

Delphine expressed her sorrow in court, emphasizing the importance of safety awareness and urging children to seek help if in danger. The Attorney General labeled Benkired’s actions as driven by personal gratification, highlighting the severity of the crime. The judge condemned Benkired’s behavior as “true torture,” considering the irreparable harm inflicted on Lola and her family.

Following the sentencing, Delphine and Lola’s brother found solace in the justice system’s verdict, believing that it honored Lola’s memory and brought forth the truth of the tragic event.
