Nvidia has recently unveiled an upgraded version of DLSS tailored for PC gamers, enhancing game visuals while minimizing performance impact.
DLSS 4, known for its Multi Frame-Generation feature since early 2025, has been surpassed by the latest upscaling model from the graphics card and AI specialist. This new iteration targets enhanced image reconstruction quality.
The improved visual fidelity of DLSS 4.5 was evident in live demos at the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show. Notably, in Black Myth Wukong, distant particle effects were significantly clearer with DLSS 4.5 compared to the less defined visuals of DLSS 4.
Although DLSS 4.5 exhibits slightly reduced performance in initial tests compared to its predecessor, the enhanced visual output justifies a minor sacrifice. Players can adjust settings to Balanced or Performance modes to regain lost frames while enjoying the improved graphics.
DLSS 4.5 is not merely a showcase technology; it is readily available for gamers to download and test in games like Battlefield 6 and ARC Raiders. While most games are yet to update natively to support DLSS, users can enable the feature manually via the Nvidia application.
To experience DLSS 4.5, users should ensure they have the latest graphics driver installed through the Nvidia application. Activating the Beta or experimental features option under ‘About’ in the ‘Settings’ menu allows users to access DLSS settings for individual games.
Although DLSS 4.5 is still in beta, offering potential performance impacts in some games, early assessments highlight significant graphical enhancements, particularly in finer details that were previously less defined with Nvidia’s older upscaling technologies.
Additionally, Nvidia revealed a new iteration of Multi Frame-Generation at CES, enabling users to generate up to six times more frames. A dynamic version of this technology will soon be available, adapting between Frame-Generation modes to meet target frame rates, exclusive to RTX 50 series cards.
Despite these advancements, it is recommended to test DLSS 4.5 in frequently played games to assess its impact on visual quality. Every detail matters in enhancing the gaming experience.
