River Island has issued a product recall for one of its items due to a significant chemical hazard it poses to consumers. The affected product is the Pink Floral Heat Seal Droplet Bucket Handbag, which has been found to contain high levels of lead in its gold chain.
Exposure to lead can lead to harm to the kidneys and circulatory system, posing particular risks to pregnant women. The specific item under recall is identified by the code 927917.
In an online recall notice, River Island explained that the decision to recall the handbag was made following rigorous testing that revealed lead levels above safety standards in the handle. The company urged customers to immediately stop using the product and arrange for its return.
Although the risk of harm is considered low, River Island emphasized the toxic nature of lead and its potential health impacts if ingested over a prolonged period. The recall is a precautionary measure to ensure customer safety.
Customers are advised to discontinue the use of the handbag and keep it away until it can be returned for a full refund. River Island apologized for any inconvenience and reiterated its commitment to ensuring product quality and customer safety.
For returns of the recalled product, customers can send it to River Island Customer Service Parcels Freepost, MK17 8EW, for both in-store and online purchases. Any inquiries can be directed to customer.services@river-island.com or by calling 03445 766 444.
