Chilling video footage captures the moment Mohammed Umar Khan entered a school before using a hunting knife to fatally stab 15-year-old Harvey Willgoose. The disturbing video shows Khan appearing calm as he entered All Saints Catholic School in Sheffield in February.

Dressed in his coat, Khan patrolled the school premises until an altercation occurred in the presence of other students. Despite his attempts to provoke Harvey, who remained composed, Khan was observed brandishing the knife in the school canteen before the fatal attack.

Following the lifting of reporting restrictions, Khan was identified as the assailant who stabbed Harvey twice in the chest with a 13cm blade during lunch break. While Khan admitted to manslaughter, he denied murder but was ultimately found guilty by a jury.

At Sheffield Crown Court, Khan received a minimum sentence of 16 years for Harvey’s murder. Judge Mrs. Justice Ellenbogen highlighted that Khan’s actions stemmed from feelings of hurt and anger towards what he perceived as betrayal by Harvey. She dismissed Khan’s claims of self-defense or fear, emphasizing that Harvey’s remarks did not warrant the violent response that ensued.

During his sentencing, Khan remained impassive in the dock, with an intermediary assisting him through the court proceedings. Harvey’s parents and Khan’s family observed the sentencing from the public gallery.

Mrs. Justice Ellenbogen expressed certainty that Khan had premeditated using the knife on Harvey if deemed necessary. She noted that while Khan may not have intended harm initially, his history of carrying weapons and the gravity of the offense occurring on school grounds were aggravating factors in the case.
