Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, announced on Friday a global recall of more than 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a seat belt problem. The recall affects Ram 1500 vehicles manufactured from 2019 to 2026 that may have a second-row center or second-row driver side seat belt buckle anchor that was not properly attached to the vehicle’s body structure. This issue could compromise the performance of the second-row seat belt system, potentially increasing the risk of injury to occupants. While there has been one reported injury associated with the recall, there have been no fatalities.
The recall encompasses 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and approximately 75,000 outside of North America. Stellantis will inform affected vehicle owners to contact dealers for an inspection. Dealers will examine the second-row center and second-row driver seat belt buckle anchor, ensuring proper attachment to the vehicle’s body if necessary.
