The social media videos shared by U.S. President Donald Trump’s campaign and the White House recently no longer feature certain Taylor Swift songs. These songs had been utilized by the White House and the campaign over the past week, but now they have been removed.
Both the White House and a representative for Taylor Swift have not provided any immediate comments regarding this development. While Swift has not directly addressed Trump recently, she did endorse his Democratic rival, then-Vice President Kamala Harris, in 2024. During the 2020 campaign, Swift made it clear on social media that she did not support Trump as president.
Trump has been vocal in his criticism of Swift, especially after she endorsed Harris. He has expressed his dislike for her on social media, even going as far as making comments about her appearance. Several other artists, including Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande, have also requested that the Trump administration refrain from using their songs.
The Trump campaign featured two Swift songs on its TikTok page in the past week. One video cleverly referenced Swift’s popular songs, such as “Red (Donald Trump’s Version).” Another video shared in June showcased Trump interacting with children, attending a UFC match, and participating in a rally, all set to Swift’s song “I Knew It, I Knew You” from the fictitious “Toy Story 5.”
This is not the first time the Trump administration has used Taylor Swift’s music in their videos. In April, a video showed the crew of Artemis II meeting with Trump at the White House, using Swift’s song “High Infidelity,” and in November, another TikTok video included Swift’s track “The Fate of Ophelia” from her album “The Life of a Showgirl.”
These videos have sparked various reactions on social media. A White House spokesperson acknowledged that the administration strategically creates these videos to gain media attention. The Trump communication team, known for its active presence on social media, frequently pairs popular songs with images depicting significant events like immigration policies, military actions, and political figures’ arrests.
