New information has surfaced regarding the passing of Sam Rivers, the bassist of the band Limp Bizkit. Rivers, who was highly praised by his fellow band members, tragically passed away on October 18th. Although the cause of death has not been disclosed, the St. Johns County Fire Rescue department spokesperson shared new insights.

According to reports, emergency responders were summoned to aid a person in cardiac arrest on Saturday. Deputies later confirmed an “attended death” at the same location. An ‘attended death’ signifies that the deceased individual was under medical care for a severe or life-threatening illness expected to result in death shortly, typically within days or months.

The specific illness that Rivers might have been battling remains unknown. He was a founding member of the metal band Limp Bizkit established in 1994. Rivers’ bandmates, Fred Durst, John Otto, Wes Borland, and DJ Lethal, expressed their sorrow through a heartfelt statement. They described Rivers as an irreplaceable figure who brought unmatched talent and warmth to their music.

The band’s statement concluded with a vow that Rivers’ legacy would endure through their music. Limp Bizkit was formed when Rivers connected with Durst while working at Chick-Fil-A. Their debut album, “Three Dolla Bill, Y’all,” was released in 1997.

After a hiatus in 2006, the band regrouped in 2009 and garnered three Grammy nominations. In 2015, Rivers departed from the band due to a battle with liver disease but returned in 2018 after undergoing a successful liver transplant. However, Rivers struggled with alcoholism, leading to further health complications.
