Amazon has unveiled its latest addition to the streaming device lineup, offering cutting-edge features that surpass existing models. The new Fire TV Stick HD is the tech giant’s most recent entry-level device, priced at £39.99 and set to hit the market later this month. Despite its lower price point, it boasts several enhancements, including a significantly slimmer and more stylish design compared to its predecessor.

The updated Fire TV Stick HD is now 30% narrower, making it easier to discreetly attach to the back of TVs and more convenient for users on the move. One key advantage of this device for binge-watchers is that it draws power directly from the TV’s USB port, eliminating the need for a separate power adapter.

According to Amazon, “The new Fire TV Stick HD is our slimmest streaming device yet, with a reduced volume and width compared to previous models. It is optimized for Direct Power through the TV’s USB port, allowing for a neater fit behind a TV without requiring an extra power adapter.”

Similar to other Fire TV Stick models, it provides instant access to popular streaming services such as Disney+, Apple TV, Prime Video, iPlayer, ITVX, and Netflix. Additionally, it includes a user-friendly remote with Alexa voice search and quick-access buttons for swift app launches.

While it may not support 4K resolution, the Fire TV Stick HD offers full HD viewing, which should satisfy most households’ entertainment needs.

Amazon touts that the new Fire TV Stick HD delivers noticeable speed enhancements over previous HD versions, boasting over 30% faster performance on average. This translates to quicker startup times and accelerated app loading.

The device comes equipped with the latest Fire operating system, offering a streamlined user experience, enhanced recommendations, and a less cluttered interface for easier content discovery.

Scheduled for release on April 29th, the Fire TV Stick HD will be available for purchase at £39.99.
