A young university student described as “super fit” tragically passed away due to a blocked intestine after experiencing severe stomach pain. Joshua Adiefeh, 20, died in his university accommodation on September 28, just a week after moving in. He was a first-year student studying accounting and finance at Manchester Metropolitan University. Joshua had been dealing with stomach issues for a few weeks, but his health deteriorated rapidly overnight while spending time with his twin brother Joel, 20, and older brother Daniel, 21, who had come to visit him in his new city.
Despite Joel’s efforts to get some paracetamol for Joshua after an ambulance was delayed, he found his brother unconscious on the bathroom floor upon returning. Despite the paramedics’ attempts, Joshua was declared dead within two hours. An autopsy revealed that Joshua, originally from Nottingham, had a blocked intestine, a condition that can lead to severe complications.
In a touching tribute to Joshua, Daniel expressed his profound loss, highlighting how the three brothers were inseparable. They had shared a pleasant evening together the day before Joshua’s passing, enjoying dinner, a walk, and a game of pool. Little did they know that Joshua would soon start feeling unwell, eventually leading to his untimely death.
Following Joshua’s death, over 300 people gathered for a memorial event in Nottingham to celebrate his life. Close ones shared memories, released balloons, and lit fireworks in honor of the young man. Both the North West Ambulance Service and Manchester Metropolitan University extended their condolences to Joshua’s family, offering support and counseling services to those affected by the tragedy.
