A man from the Wirral, Karl Davies, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for grooming and sexually abusing a schoolgirl. Davies, a father-of-two, pleaded guilty to 17 offenses involving a girl aged between 13 and 14. Described as having a “monstrous sense of sexual entitlement,” Davies showed no remorse for the harm he caused his victim.

The court heard that Davies initiated contact with the girl on Snapchat in June 2023, coercing her into sending indecent images and videos over the following year. Using multiple fake identities to maintain contact, he then sexually abused her in his car on four occasions during the summer of 2024.

Judge Hilary Manley imposed an extended sentence on Davies, citing his “depraved and sadistic” actions. Davies also coerced the victim into self-harm, a behavior that led to his conviction under the Online Safety Act 2023. The judge condemned Davies for his appalling behavior, emphasizing his manipulation and abuse of the vulnerable girl.

Despite his admissions, Davies denied any sexual interest in children, contradicting evidence of his predatory actions. The prosecution detailed how Davies used various aliases to manipulate and intimidate the victim, demonstrating a calculated and disturbing pattern of abuse.

Davies was found guilty of using deceit, threats, and manipulation to satisfy his twisted desires, leading to severe consequences for the victim. The court deemed an extended sentence necessary, ensuring Davies remains under supervision for an additional five years after his imprisonment.

Stacey Gosling, a senior Crown prosecutor, highlighted the sophistication of Davies’ grooming tactics and the lasting impact of his cruel actions on the victim. She expressed hope that the victim can find solace in knowing that justice has been served with Davies’ imprisonment.
