Blizzard has recently released a new update for Overwatch 2, enhancing the popular online team shooter for the upcoming year. The update includes adjustments to 14 out of the game’s 45 playable characters, enhancements to the Showdown mode, and the reintroduction of a beloved mode from the original Overwatch game.

Whether you are a dedicated Overwatch enthusiast or just returning to check out the game’s current status, there are plenty of exciting changes to look forward to. The key modifications are summarized below for a quick overview of the patch notes.

The major highlight of this midseason update is the reintroduction of the Assault mode, also known as 2CP. This mode, featuring maps like Hanamura, Temple of Anubis, and Volskaya Industries, involves teams battling to capture or defend a series of two points in rapid succession. Players can experience this mode in quick play with the newer heroes available in the updated game.

However, players eager to try out Assault should act quickly as the mode is only available from January 8 to 11.

In addition, Doomfist is receiving a Mythic skin along with significant adjustments to his abilities, such as his Empowered Punch now losing power after 20 seconds of charging.

The update introduces various changes to other heroes, with the mid-season patch arriving a month before Season 21 commences on February 10, allowing players ample time to adapt to the new gameplay tweaks before the next Competitive Reset.

The Overwatch 2 Mid-Season 20 update can now be downloaded across PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, with a file size of approximately 6.6GB.
