Harrowing video footage captured the moment a truck jackknifed on a wet road, colliding with a car and trapping two individuals inside.
The car’s driver, aged 42, and the passenger, aged 39, tragically lost their lives in the incident that occurred on a section of the DN2/E85 road between the communes of Cristești and Drăgușeni in Iași County, northeastern Romania, on Friday afternoon. The lorry’s trailer skidded, veered across the road, and obstructed both lanes. Despite the car driver’s efforts to brake, the trailer overturned and smashed into the vehicle.
Thirteen firefighters responded to the scene, utilizing two specialized vehicles equipped with extraction tools, a SMURD ambulance, and teams from the Suceava and Iași County Ambulance Services, as reported by Romanian TV channel Digi24.
Allegedly, four individuals were involved in the crash. Police confirmed that the 54-year-old truck driver underwent a breathalyzer test which showed no alcohol in his system. Following a medical assessment, he declined hospital transportation, according to the channel.
