Max Verstappen emerged victorious at the recent Las Vegas Grand Prix, a win that gained more significance as Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were later disqualified from the race. This turn of events reshuffled the drivers’ standings, with Verstappen now tied in second place with Piastri, trailing Norris by 24 points, making the championship race more intense with only two races and a sprint race left in the season.

Following the race, suspicions were raised when the FIA technical chief inspected Norris and Piastri’s cars more extensively than usual. It was revealed that the skid blocks under both cars were too thin to comply with post-race regulations, leading to the disqualification of both McLaren drivers.

Verstappen’s triumph in Vegas not only closed the gap with Norris to 42 points but also elevated George Russell to second place, after a post-race adjustment. Meanwhile, Kimi Antonelli moved up to third place, showcasing his exceptional performance in his debut F1 season.

With only a limited number of points left to secure this season, the focus now shifts to the upcoming Qatar Grand Prix, where Verstappen aims to capitalize on Norris’s potential point losses. The title race remains open, with various scenarios playing out depending on the performances in the remaining races.

The battle for the championship intensifies as Verstappen seeks to defend his title against Norris, relying on his track record at the Qatar Grand Prix and Abu Dhabi Grands Prix. The outcome of the championship could hinge on race wins if the contenders end up tied in points, with Norris currently leading in victories. Despite Norris’s strong start to the season, Verstappen’s recent podium finishes add pressure on the McLaren driver as the season draws to a close.
