Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have spoken out following their disqualification from the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Norris finished second behind race winner Max Verstappen, while Piastri came in fourth, but both were disqualified due to technical issues discovered after the race.

The FIA confirmed that excessive skid-block wear was the reason for their disqualification, nullifying their results and shaking up the championship standings with only two races remaining.

Currently, Norris leads Piastri and Verstappen by 24 points heading into the upcoming race in Qatar and the season finale in Abu Dhabi.

Norris expressed disappointment over the outcome, acknowledging issues with their car’s performance and shifting focus to the upcoming race in Qatar for a strong performance. Piastri also expressed frustration, emphasizing the need to regroup and strive for the best results in the final two rounds.

McLaren issued an apology to Norris and Piastri, admitting a breach of technical regulations that led to the disqualification. The team explained that the cars experienced unexpected issues during the race, causing the skid thickness to fall below the required minimum.

Despite the setback, McLaren remains focused on the remaining races of the season to make a strong finish. FIA scrutineers discovered that the planks under the McLaren cars were below the minimum thickness, resulting in the disqualification from the final race classification.
