A global audience was stunned by surveillance footage capturing a 12-year-old girl returning home from school and then tragically being found dead in a trunk near her parents’ workplace shortly afterward.
The distressing details unfolded, revealing that the young girl had allegedly been subjected to horrific acts, including rape, torture, and murder by Dahbia Benkired, an Algerian woman who was residing in the same building as the victim and her sister. Benkired, who was facing deportation from France, was implicated in the heinous crime.
Court proceedings featured a chilling video of the accused dragging a trunk containing the victim’s body into a bar, along with testimonies of the brutal ordeal the girl endured leading up to her demise. Reports indicated that the victim, Lola Daviet, suffered multiple wounds, including asphyxiation, inflicted by Benkired in a purported act of revenge against Lola’s mother.
Medical evidence presented in court revealed that Lola endured 38 wounds on her back and neck, ultimately succumbing to asphyxia. The doctor highlighted the physical, psychological, and moral anguish the victim experienced, emphasizing the severity of the suffering inflicted upon her.
Furthermore, Benkired’s confession upon interrogation and her apology to the victim’s family marked the initial stages of the trial. The accused, who had a troubled past and a history of abuse, expressed remorse for her actions and sought forgiveness from the grieving family.
As the legal proceedings continue, the court aims to establish the motive and circumstances surrounding the crime. Benkired, despite admitting to the offenses, faces the possibility of a life sentence under French law. The trial remains ongoing as justice is sought for the tragic loss of young Lola.
