Ryanair has launched two new routes from the UK to a lively Spanish city known for its pleasant December weather. The airline has expanded its Alicante schedule, now providing a total of 79 routes from this popular Spanish destination. Among the ten new destinations added are Bratislava, Linz, Salzburg, Bydgoszcz, Rzeszow, Stockholm Västerås, Småland, and Lanzarote.

Notably, Ryanair has initiated direct flights from Cardiff and Aberdeen to Alicante, with the Aberdeen route operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, offering fares starting at just £22 in December. The Cardiff to Alicante route will run almost daily in December, with tickets currently available for £20.

Alicante’s appeal for UK holidaymakers lies in its climate, with December temperatures reaching highs of 18C and occasionally hitting 23C on warmer days. This mild weather provides an ideal setting for relaxing on the city’s golden beaches, offering a refreshing escape from the gloomy UK climate.

With 300 days of sunshine annually and picturesque landscapes, Alicante has become a favorite destination for European golf lovers. The city boasts renowned golf courses like Las Colinas, Lo Romero, La Finca, and Melia Villaitana, catering to golf enthusiasts of all levels.

Aside from golf, Alicante’s charm extends to its blend of old and new architectural styles, shaped by post-war restoration efforts. The city’s iconic Castle of Santa Bárbara stands tall in the old quarter, hosting cultural events like the Festival of Moors and the Night of San Juan.

Visitors can explore the winding streets of the Old Town, dotted with pubs, bars, cafes, and restaurants, as praised by Neil Kelly from Liverpool. The city’s must-see attractions include La Explanada de España, a mosaic promenade flanked by palm trees and historic buildings, as well as the convenient public transport network connecting major sights.

For beach enthusiasts, Playa del Postiguet offers pristine white sands and water-based activities, while Playa de San Juan provides a more tranquil coastal experience. Food lovers can indulge in regional cuisine at spots like Santa Gloria, Bar Cento, and Café Tres Texturas, or savor a British-style meal at Browns if craving familiar flavors.

Alicante’s diverse offerings make it an enticing destination for a quick winter getaway, with its blend of history, culture, and natural beauty ensuring a memorable travel experience.
