Prince Harry’s critical remarks about his controversial uncle, Prince Andrew, are resurfacing amid ongoing scrutiny surrounding Prince Andrew’s actions. When Meghan entered the Royal Family following her marriage to Harry, there was initial excitement, with the couple, alongside Prince William and Kate Middleton, being dubbed the ‘Fab Four.’
Despite their public charm offensive, Harry and Meghan were privately facing challenges, with Meghan later revealing struggles with mental health issues. Tensions were rising within the royal family, leading to Harry acknowledging the diverging paths between him and his brother before their decision to step back from full-time royal duties, which shocked the nation.
Unlike Prince Andrew, who faced renewed scrutiny for his involvement in various scandals, Harry and Meghan found themselves stripped of royal privileges and security following their exit. Harry expressed surprise at the abrupt removal of their taxpayer-funded security in 2020, leading them to seek refuge in Canada with support from Hollywood tycoon Tyler Perry.
In his memoir, Harry cited his uncle’s situation as a key reason for ensuring their security. Meanwhile, Prince Andrew voluntarily relinquished his duke title and royal honors after discussions with King Charles, despite not being a working royal for six years. Andrew’s retreat from public duties in 2019 followed allegations of sexual assault and his association with Jeffrey Epstein.
Despite being embroiled in scandal, Andrew retained police security until 2022, with the late Queen continuing to cover his private security costs. Subsequently, King Charles ceased funding Andrew’s security in 2024 to prompt his relocation from Royal Lodge.
