Christian Horner is being considered as a potential replacement for Aston Martin team principal Andy Cowell, who is rumored to be on the verge of dismissal following the Las Vegas Grand Prix. The former Red Bull chief has been exploring opportunities to return to Formula 1 since leaving in July.

After a challenging Las Vegas GP, RacingNews365 reported that Cowell’s position at Aston Martin is in jeopardy due to the team’s current struggles in the Constructors’ Championship standings. Andreas Seidl, a former McLaren and Sauber executive, is mentioned as a leading candidate to take over Cowell’s role.

BBC Sport has revealed that Horner is also in contention to take over from Cowell at Aston Martin. Horner, who left the Red Bull team in July, has been linked to various teams, including Ferrari, Haas, and Alpine. This potential opportunity with Aston Martin could be a significant one for him.

Rumors of Horner joining Aston Martin emerged before the Singapore Grand Prix but were promptly denied by Cowell, who stated that there were no plans to involve Horner in any operational or investment capacity with the team.

If Horner does return to Formula 1 with Aston Martin, it would lead to a reunion with his rival Zak Brown, the CEO of McLaren Racing. Brown expressed his respect for Horner’s past achievements but noted a perceived change in Horner’s demeanor over the years.

Meanwhile, Red Bull celebrated success in Las Vegas as Max Verstappen claimed victory, keeping his hopes alive in the Drivers’ Championship. McLaren faced disqualification after the race, impacting the standings as the season heads to Qatar.
